New comBATON Director for New York

The next comBATON newsletter will detail Bill Wiscotsky, the new comBATON Director for the state of New York. Master Wiscotsky owns Long Island Mixed Martial Arts.

Just a Taste of the Year Ahead

ComBATON is in the beginning stages of planning a DVD to explain the game for people to play without having to come to Florida to see a game. Other plans for 2010 include using yellow batons to increase baton visibility during games and a line of comBATON equipment. As regular readers know, Jacky Detaille is starting a team in France and Bill Wisotsky along with Tommy DiLallo are interested in starting a team in Long Island, New York. Jeff Underwood, the Iowa State Director is working on establishing comBATON there. Once again, the Championships are slated for the Disney Martial Arts Festival in October. More to come later...

Jacky Detaille, pratiquer le comBATON en France, is the president of the France Karate Association and has adapted the comBATON logo using the French Language. Jacky is already planning comBATON demos. Below is an excerpt from his blog. We look forward following his progress in developing a European league.

Le comBATON, le nouveau sport de combat qui affole les américains, vient de faire son apparition en Europe!

C'est sous l'impulsion du Champion du Monde de Karaté Jacky Detaille qu'une première section de comBATON est en train de voir le jour dans le Gard, puisque le Karaté Club Bellegarde propose déjà cette activité depuis plusieurs semaines. "C'est au cours d'un de mes voyages aux Etats-unis que j'ai découvert le comBATON; j'ai très vite manifesté un grand interêt pour cette nouvelle discipline fondée par Steve Blanton. Le nouveau refus du CIO d'intégrer le karaté aux Jeux Olympiques, m'a poussé à réfléchir sur de nouvelles formes de développement pour le karaté, et les sports pieds-poings en général; j'ai toujours pensé que les sports de combat pieds-poings auraient dû collaborer afin de proposer une formule globale au Comité Olympique (en particulier les sports de "touche" comme le Karaté, le Taekwondo, le Kung Fu, le Viet vo dao et d'autres...)."
